Whole Wheat Spaghetti with Garlic and Olive Oil recipe is simple yet full of flavor, making it perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces (about 225g) whole wheat spaghetti
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Directions

  1. Cook the whole wheat spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water, then drain the spaghetti and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until the garlic is lightly golden and fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Add the cooked whole wheat spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic and olive oil. Toss well to coat the spaghetti evenly with the garlic-infused oil. If the spaghetti seems dry, you can add a splash of the reserved pasta cooking water to loosen it up.
  4. Season the spaghetti with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Toss again to combine.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat and sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the spaghetti. Toss once more to incorporate the parsley.
