Directions:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 8 oz (225g) mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Cooked egg noodles or rice, for serving
- Chopped parsley, for garnish
Instructions:
- Cook Beef: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Saute Mushrooms and Onions: In the same skillet, add more olive oil if needed. Add the sliced mushrooms and diced onion, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
- Make Sauce: Sprinkle flour over the mushroom mixture and stir to combine. Gradually pour in beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
- Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Stir in sour cream until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Serve the beef stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice. Garnish with chopped parsley for freshness.
Optional Cook’s Note: If beef sirloin is difficult to find, you can use beef tenderloin, flank steak, or even ground beef as alternatives.
