Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces (about 225g) mushrooms (button mushrooms, cremini, or your choice), sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Directions

  1. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions to the skillet and sauté them, stirring occasionally, until they become soft and slightly caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Once the onions are softened and starting to turn golden brown, add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. add minced garlic now as well.
  4. Sauté the mushrooms and onions together, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are cooked through and golden brown, about 8-10 minutes more.
  5. Season the mushrooms and onions with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust the seasoning according to your preference.
  6. Once the mushrooms and onions are cooked to your liking, remove the skillet from the heat.
  7. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
