Directions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare Crust: Roll out a store-bought pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish. Press the crust firmly into the bottom and sides of the dish, then crimp the edges as desired.
- Cook Bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, cook 6 slices of bacon until crispy. Once cooked, transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease. Crumble or chop the bacon into small pieces.
- Caramelize Onions: In the same skillet used for bacon, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sliced onions. Cook over medium heat until the onions are soft and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Prepare Egg Mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together 4 large eggs, 1 cup of half-and-half, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and a pinch of black pepper.
- Assemble Quiche: Sprinkle the crumbled bacon and caramelized onions evenly over the bottom of the pie crust. Top with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Pour the egg mixture over the filling ingredients.
- Bake: Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
- Serve: Allow the quiche to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
Cook’s Note: For an alternative, you can use pre-cooked bacon bits and pre-shredded cheese to save time.
