Ingredients

  • Ripe firm bananas
  • Lemon juice to prevent browning
  • Oil for frying either vegetable oil or coconut oil

Directions

  1. Peel the bananas and slice them thinly, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. You can slice them crosswise or lengthwise, depending on your preference. If desired, you can brush the banana slices with lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
  2. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or pot to about 350°F (175°C). You want enough oil to submerge the banana slices.
  3. Carefully add the banana slices to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the banana slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  4. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to transfer the fried banana slices to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
